Kelaiah Horat, violinist
About
Welcome! I’m Kelaiah Horat, a passionate Franco-American violinist dedicated to the art of music and the joy of sharing it with others. From the moment I first held a violin, I was captivated by its expressive voice and timeless elegance. Over the years, that spark turned into a lifelong journey of performance, exploration, and teaching.
My Musical Journey
I grew up in rural Montana, where my first audience was the goats on our dairy farm. The violin quickly became my creative outlet, my discipline, and my inspiration. As I continued to learn and improve under the guidance of teachers, my horizons widened. I deeply desired to share the passion I felt with larger audiences, which led me to become a founding member of the non-profit Bitterroot Baroque—bringing music to a cultural desert.
The pursuit of excellence in violin led me to study music at the University of Montana and later to move to Paris to continue my studies. The violin gave me wings, and I learned first-hand how music is both a universal language and a powerful conduit for personal growth. Violin performance is more than technical excellence; it is also emotional storytelling—bringing each piece of music to life for the listener.
Now, one of my greatest passions is helping students do the same. I love using music as my primary form of communication, tapping into its profound capacity for emotional connection and storytelling.
